3 People You Didn’t Know Were from Memphis

If you live at out Metro 67 apartments in Memphis, TN, then you’re probably well aware of the city’s many homegrown talents.  As one of the main sources of musicians in the country, it is not hard to rattle off a dozen or so names its more famous musicians. However, Memphis is also home to some celebrities not in the music industry.1.  Cybill Shepard
This well-known actress got her start in Peter Bogdanovich’s small town portrait, “The Last Picture Show.” She also appeared in Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver”, and also  starred alongside  Bruce Willis in the popular 80′s TV series “Moonlighting.”

2.  Chris Parnell
This popular comedian got his big break with regular appearances on “Saturday Night Live.”  He is also lends his voice talents to the animated show “Archer” as well as appearing as a regular character on the hit show “30 Rock.”

3. Craig Brewer
This up and coming film maker was responsible for the film “Hustle & Flow”, which explored the life of a rising hip hop star in Memphis as well as “Black Snake Moan”, which concerned an old blues musician trying to help a young woman set her life back on track.
