A typical summer isn’t complete if you don’t have a swimming pool to wade in. We’ve got the rooftop to lounge around on, but there’s always a longing for crystal blue water to cool us down from the summer heat.
It’s hard to live up to the luxury lifestyle afforded here at Metro 67, yet when it comes to taking a dive, these places around the Memphis area, get our vote to swim at:
- Shelby Forest Pool: Located in the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. The large pool was recently renovated and opened this past Memorial Day weekend! The pool usually closes in late August and has a small rate for admission to the pool
- Scenic Hills Recreation Club: Also has a membership fee for non-residents, but is worth the recreation offered at the community.
- L.E. Brown Pool: Free, community pool close to Metro 67. While it’s free, it’s important to get there early on summer days!

This article regarding Shelby Forest Pool is way off. We went today thinking to see a new pool and it is the same nasty one it was years ago. Kiddie pool closed, water dirty and hot, one rinky dink soda machine (that took my money). Could not even get change for a 5 from the employees. What am I missing here. Is there another pool in this park we are not aware of. Just want to know which pool you are referring to.
Thanks

Lindsey,
Thank you for calling out on this! Unfortunately, the information was given to us by someone at the facility to be able to put in the post. We haven’t had a chance to visit ourselves and appreciate the notation. Are there any better suggestions for us to possibly post?
