A brief (very brief) history of Thanksgiving
Sure, we know that Thanksgiving is the holiday that everyone eats Turkey and stuffing and gives thanks for all of their blessings in life, but what else do you know about this national day of “thanks?”
Did you know that at the original Thanksgiving celebration in 1621, the Pilgrims had actually intended on “fasting” instead of “feasting”? It was the Native Americans who joined in the three-day affair and contributed their harvest traditions. Besides turkey at the first feast, all who took part ate fish, eels and shellfish. You can check out more interesting facts at TIME Magazine’s, The First Thanksgiving.
Whether you’re planning on cooking up a fancy-shmancy dinner here in your gourmet kitchen, or traveling out of town to go see family and friends, the management here at Metro 67 Apartments would like to wish all of our residents a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday weekend!
